I use to look at people who blogged and thought…really? Get a life? I mean how busy are you that you have time to write and post? Besides that everyone has a blog. That is until one day I noticed something very disturbing on Facebook about a women who was cheating on her husband. Yes, she wrote about it. She not only wrote about it but encouraged other women to take the plunge to cheat on their spouses. She said, “it makes me a better wife.” That remark made me vomit, or at least my stomach churned enough to want to. Why would anyone encourage that? I feel the need to quote one of my favorite lines from Lonesome Dove, “I hate rude behavior in a man, I won’t tolerate it.”-Capt. Woodrow Call. Thank ya sir, my sentiments exactly!
With that, I started my blog. I figured if she could shout from the rooftops about convincing others to cheat, I would shout even louder about my God and His beautiful truths about marriage. I could write about faithfulness, integrity, and love. I can also write about the realities of misunderstandings, in working cattle or in life in general…work it out, don’t get a new husband. Even in my imperfection, to which I have many, perhaps there’s a lesson we could learn together. But I sure won’t say to test drive a few men, that’s a dangerous dealership that will repo your relationship. Don’t do it my friend. Clearly not God’s choice for your life.
Blogging has also been a way to write about things happening here on the ranch or at Cowboy Church. It’s been a way to rejoice over triumphs and wrestle with struggles. Writing is a way of tracking the events of life for me. I have met many people through this avenue of writing. It has given me opportunities that I couldn’t have imagined for myself. …..even if I was reluctant at first to push “Publish” and for the many times in between when I’ve been reluctant to push “Publish”. I’ve found it to be alright though, ya’ll have been so kind to me…. thank you for that!!!
So what about you? You may be inspired to do something about an injustice around you. It may be time to stand up and do your part. Believe me, doing something is better than doing nothing at all. Conviction has a way of knocking on your door, but pretty soon it’s familiarity lessens the urge to open it. I think as Christians we’ve been silent for too long about the shape of things. The shape of things in our marriage, family, churches, and country. Can you imagine the impact we can make together? What if you volunteer to be a baseball coach or Sunday School Teacher, our kids need good solid Christian role models to follow. Take a place in an outreach that matter’s to you. I have a friend that rocks babies at a neonatal unit, what a great way to be the arms of Christ. If she would have thought it was unimportant along with everyone else who rocks babies, then there would be nobody to do it. Never assume someone is going to take your place, they won’t. You are the most beautiful when you fill the role God has made specific for you. No idea is stupid, even if it needs a little tweaking. No dream is impossible. Ya’ll know you make an impact, right? Some of you have made a big impact on me…I appreciate it!
With that folks….I’m on my way out to enjoy the beautiful day. I hope you’ll hang around a bit and look around my site.
