The other day I took a walk with my camera. I actually was doing a little stress relieving and a walk sounded like the ticket to clear my mind. I hadn’t taken pictures in awhile so the opportunity and the light outside was in my favor. Leading up to the walk several things had become my focus. The “to-do” list, a hectic schedule, a stomach that was in knots, worrying about people…well…you get the point. My focus had gotten a little out of whack….this was before I wrote my last post on, How To Have a Perfect Day. I just needed the reminder. I wonder if you have ever been there. Have you been focused on work, or a relationship, or your kids, have you worried about bills, or putting shoes on horses, or when the feed will be delivered? These things can quickly become our focus if we let it.
“Where your treasure is, there your heart will be also”, Matt. 6:21. You may have heard it. Did you know we put our treasure in worry sometimes? We put our treasure in discontentment. We put our treasure in the storm. And if that’s the case for you, as it can be for me as well, it’s time to audit your heart. It’s time to get the books out and tally up where your treasure is. Even in the Spring time, we need to be reminded of gratitude and write them out. Someday someone will find your list and see their name on it. They will know the simple things in life that need to be recorded. So here’s mine.
- My relationship with Christ
- My man of 28 years
- My family
- A pen and paper…..to write and encourage others
- A camera….to tell a story thru a lens
- A horse named Sugar, to carry me to an adventure
- Some cattle to gather and to be the subjects in my photo shoots.
- A love story to tell
- A new day
- A fresh start
- A hope
- A dream
- A prayer….many, many prayers
- A listening ear
- A friend, or two, or three….probably more
- A Bible
- A plan
- A song to sing
- A dance
- A heart
- A home
- A truck to take us to town
- A smile
- A warm cup of coffee in my hand
So what about you, do you have some things to write down, to tally up? If so, I guarantee it will bring things back into focus.
Could you share a few things that you treasure? I love comments on my blog and always look forward to hearing from you…..thecowboypastorswife
