I know January is not a popular wedding month, but as I looked through pictures of the weddings we’ve been to, I couldn’t help but think, “Man, that was a blast”, or “I want to remember that idea.” There are some crazy creative people out there! Decorations that catch your eye, photographers who get a memorable shot, or gesture that gets ya right in the gut.
Here’s my Top 10 Favorite Things I’ve Seen At Weddings
10. Magnetic “Save the Date” Announcement Cards. These lit’l babies are handy to put on the fridge. I have the reminder everytime I open my fridge…which is alot. I love to EAT!
9. Small Circular Magnets. One outdoor wedding there were these small magnets on each table that guest could take home. They were pictures of the couple on different dates. The ones we brought home…..the couple horseback and some of them out in their jeep on the ranch. Here’s how….
8. Pie Bar. I loved this couple’s pie bar!!! Small pieces of pie to take with you. I also loved that there was another option besides cake. The boxes, decorations, signs, all invite you to take a piece of pie…”I’ll take two please!”
7. Let Your Guest Be The Photographers. How about your guest helping out, there’s some great shots that you will definitely want to have. Have an app or link where your guest can download pics, probably need to be a little careful with that couple of wild style guest, who may try to post something, let’s say, you really don’t want your kids to see! May want to keep the delete button handy!
6. Say It With Style. Signs are popular right now, whether they are written in chalkboard or painted. Too many signs might look a little redneck, but if you put them with some classy flowers, photos, or a basket full of fans for your guest…….then you’ve got style!
5. Decorations That Reflect The Couple. Something we always tell couples during premarital counseling, “MAKE YOUR WEDDING YOUR OWN.” This is their special day and should reflect them. This couple put some guy touches on their wedding, he likes to hunt, there were antlers on the tables and in some of the arrangements.
4. Original Pictures That Capture The Moment. These two pictures, taken by Gabriella McSwan, made me laugh! Loved them and the brides personality!
3. The Look On The Groom’s Face. Yes, I’m one of those, when the bride is coming down the isle, I just have to get a glimpse of the groom. This particular groom, one of my favorites this past year.
2. A Picture With All The Wedding Guest. Instead of all the typical pictures taken immediately after the ceremony, this couple opted to get a shot with all their guest. Doing it before getting caught up in other pictures and the meal, meant everyone would be included!
1. Welcoming The New Family Member. This shot always gets me! I love how this new mother-in-law welcomes her new daughter-in-law! The picture not only speaks for itself, but these new in-laws gave a speech that made me cry! What a way to kick off a new relationship………………..
