“Bingo!” Just saying the word brings up fond childhood memories. I remember playing this with my brothers and sisters growing up. Being the youngest of five I always thought I had to shout it a little louder than most, so they would really hear me. Must be that youngest child syndrome….”See, I really got it…check my numbers!” My oldest sister, Bev, would laugh and check the numbers and inform the others, “Yes, she really got it!” and with that the others would chunk their cards and protest, “Awww, I wanted to win!!! One more number and I would have won!” My brother, Robert was always the worst loser, he hated losing. I remember many times, he would throw the monopoly pieces upon losing and my mom would end up vacuuming up the lit’l shoe a couple of days later. Oh the days of playing board games in the floor on rainy days or cold winter nights….I miss those days!
This morning I read,”How great is your goodness, which you have stored up for those who fear you, which you bestow in the sight of men on those who take refuge in you.” Psalm 31:19
This was one of those moments, you know when you read the verse over and over just to really get it. “How great is your goodness…..which you have stored up….! First of all, we are talking God’s goodness and then actually picturing Him storing up. I don’t know about you but that’s a hard visual to get. A good visual, but wow! And lets not forget the action verb…..”for those who fear you.” For me, in simple terms would mean, those who love you and desire to do what’s right. And the rest of the verse says, He’s going to give it in the sight of men. but what is clear is that this is a man or women who takes refuge in Him. You see it should be apparent to others who we belong to, they can tell it by the lives we live, by the actions we take and by the name we proclaim. They can tell it by what we stand for.
Now life is certainly not a game, but I can safely say, I know who the winner will be ever time. Bingo anyone?
