There are some things in life that it’s okay to quit. I know….what in the world are you talking about? And I’m about to free you up in whole lotta ways! Would you believe quitting can be beneficial, free up your time, improve your health, and improve your mood?
There are things that are not meant for you to do, are time wasters, or beyond your control. Let’s dive in and see if you’re like me….ready to QUIT!
7 Things to Quit Immediately
1. People Pleasing: Would you have less anxiety, more room to think about bigger and better things, if this one was off your plate? You can’t please everyone…..so make that your new motto!
New International Version
Am I now trying to win the approval of human beings, or of God? Or am I trying to please people? If I were still trying to please people, I would not be a servant of Christ.
Galatians 1:10
2. Quit Complaining: Can I get an amen from the choir and I’m so preaching to myself right now. Once you start complaining, it’s like that late night snack….you just can’t stop.

3. Quit Controlling Everything: So who do we have control over? ….ourselves…that’s about it. We can’t make other’s decisions for them and we can’t control certain circumstances in our lives either.
Proverbs 19:21 ESV
Many are the plans in the mind of a man, but it is the purpose of the Lord that will stand.
4. Quit Holding Onto How Someone Hurt You: Forgiving is not only for their benefit but for ours as well. Holding unto to the past is only hurting you. Get over the fact that it makes you feel like you’re holding something over their head. That mess only messes with you and causes a whole slew of unhealthy junk. Ulcers, control issues, health issues…and plus…all of us need forgiveness!
For if you forgive other people when they sin against you, your heavenly Father will also forgive you.
5. Quit Pointing Out Your Faults: Don’t like something? Change it. Can’t change it? Work with it but don’t magnify it by pointing it out to everyone you meet. I wish I didn’t have to admit this one is hard for me but it is. I’m learning to find how God can use every part of me….not just the parts I like.
6. Quit Saying Yes to Everything: Now when I say this I hope I don’t get a billion phone calls from people at church wanting to quit on me. I’m not talking about quitting things you’re called to do. Some things are hard, difficult, tiring, but it’s doesn’t mean we can just quit it for those reasons. Say yes to the things God calls you to and free yourself up from the unnecessary.
Leviticus 10:10 ESV
You are to distinguish between the holy and the common, and between the unclean and the clean,
7. Quit Being a Doormat: Your opinion counts. We’re just to dad gum overly sensitive to the words of people these days. Nowadays, we are afraid the word police might arrest us. But I think sometimes we use that as an excuse to be silent. Speak up people, we need some more backbone in our Country! But for God’s sake, do it in a way that is constructive and from the right heart.
Deuteronomy 28:13 ESV
And the Lord will make you the head and not the tail, and you shall only go up and not down, if you obey the commandments of the Lord your God, which I command you today, being careful to do them,
Did you pick out at least one thing you could quit today? Or maybe you picked them all out. Me!! Me!! Sign me up!! None of this quitting is possible without replacing all that freed up time to fill in the gap. Figure out what it is you need more of. I need more Jesus or I will just revert back to my old habits. I need more action into the obedience of follow through, on what I feel He’s calling me to do. I need accountability to stay consistent!! I also need more rest and time on my horse. I’ve been off her longer than I’ve wanted lately and I’m really missing it!!
What about you? Take some time to figure out what to quit but also take some time to figure out what’s missing. Hope this helps!
