Well here it goes…I’m not gonna lie, I am still nervous but I’m hoping for more, I’m hoping for try. Repeat… never done this before!! But, will ya’ll try this with me?
“We long for Christ. We long for fellowship. We long for leadership from Godly women. But yet imperfection holds us back from even daring to believe we can do it.”
5 Women For 1 Purpose is meant to create small groups that study together and then serve together. Here’s how it works.
- Gather Together 4 Other Women: Surely each of us know, 4 women who would be interested in studying the Word of God. Don’t get sidetracked by the number though, your group might have 3, or 7, or 12. Focus on small group. Who are the women you live around, you work with, who are the women who have children, your children’s age? Which women could you pull in that are widowed or maybe lonely? If you’re on a ranch, who do you talk to on a regular basis? Your group may set up a Skype group, talk on the phone, or meet when you come to town. 5 Women just sounds doable, don’t you agree?
- Our Study: Romans, let’s just see how many we can get to study this book at one time. Let’s just get in the Word and start! I’ve picked, Max Lucado’s Life Lessons on Romans. Here’s the link, Do 2 Lessons a week. Order your book ASAP, create a sense of urgency within yourself, so we don’t blow this off. Read the first two lessons before the start date. Start date will be anytime during the week of October 9th, your group can decide on that.
- How Often Do You Meet With Your Group: Once a week. Starting the week of October 9th. Meet whenever it is convenient, that’s the point. If you’ve gathered together women at work, than you might meet during your lunch hour. If you’ve gathered up some mom’s with toddlers, you might meet in the park while your kids play. If you’re on a ranch you might decide on a time you’ll be in town, you might meet for coffee. You might be go out on a limb and ask your neighbors, and you could switch off whose home to meet at each week. You might even help each other with chores and spend some time encouraging and praying for one another. Get creative with your group and do study as you do life.
- How Long Is The Study: 6 Weeks. Starting the week of October 9th. 6 Weeks will mean you will finish up the week before Thanksgiving.
- Here’s the Last and MOST IMPORTANT Step? I don’t know about you but another Bible Study doesn’t need to collect dust on my shelf. Here’s the part we often leave out that I hope makes the biggest impact. Decide as a group who you are going to serve, how can you make more disciples, how can your group make a difference? In other words pick one thing that you want to do as a group. What can happen if we take what we learn in Romans and apply it? Use one of your meeting times as a time for outreach. You may want to do more, but decide that as a group.
Here’s some ideas to spur your group into action:
- Do you have a military mom in your community? What about gathering up stuff for a care package, letters of encouragement, send Bibles or a Bible study for their platoon?
- Do you know someone who has recently lost a loved one? Maybe they need a little help around their ranch. Maybe they need other women to gather around and help them find their purpose again. Maybe they need to be spurred on to start their own 5.4.1 group. We are all called to be His disciples, no matter our age.
- Do you know a single mom who could really use a hand?
- Gather up food to feed the poor. Does your town have a food bank or people in need?
- What about our elderly: Visit a nursing home, play games or just visit with them. Who knows, it could be an opportunity to introduce them to Christ.
- The possibilities are endless, just take a look around for a need
You see, Faith without action is dead. Let’s use this opportunity to spur us on to more. More relationships, more working beside each other for the sake of other’s knowing Jesus Christ. More of people seeing the body of Christ at work.
“You see this study is about more than study, it’s intentional. Intentional learning from God’s Word, intentional fellowship, intentional serving.”
I’m anxious to hear from you. You don’t have to register your group, but I would love to hear a little good news! I hope our stories will bring out the intentional impact we hope to make in the world. Let’s Go! Let’s Do THIS! I’m just excited…..I should say, would you like to do this?
Love hearing from you, Norma….thecowboypastorswife
