I FOUND IT!!! I had written an earlier post about a letter that my father-in-law Hank, had given me years ago. For about ten years, I had convinced myself that I had lost the letter in a house fire. The other day, while doing some spring cleaning, I found a box in the top of my closet. The box contained several letters and some small gifts, I had received on a retreat. I couldn’t understand how I could still have these letters, since I don’t remember grabbing this particular box before our house burnt. I found one of my most cherished letters, the one Gramps wrote to me. If you didn’t have the chance to read my earlier post, you can find it here… 15 Sayings We Don’t Hear Anymore. Below are the original sayings, that were in the letter and are different from those written in my earlier post.

Sometimes we are convinced that we lost something that we cherish, then one day we stubble across it in a dusty old box. There are times where I feel as though I forget to look to the letter, that is most important to me. Those words that were written to instruct, to remind me of His greatness, those words that convict me, and those words that are life to me. I want to approach God’s Word just like I did when I found this long lost letter. I want to cup my hand over my mouth in surprise and feel tears wail up in my eyes. For that moment, that letter had my full attention, as I rejoiced in finding it. “God, I’m not always enthusiastic, many times I’m complacent, but give, not only myself, but others a passion for the best letter of all.”
Jeremiah 29:13 “And you will be searching for me and I will be there, when you have gone after me with all your heart”
Have you ever lost something and years later found it? What was it and what was your reaction? When approaching God’s Word, what do you do to put your full attention on what He’s saying to you? I always love hearing from you…………….thecowboypastorswife
