I Love……………………………
- Location, Location, Location: We often hear about this is real estate, but it is so true when having any type of women’s gathering. Away from ringing phones, chiming computers with the next email. This location was perfect, not to far from where we lived, amongst beautiful Texas mountains. Cabins off of rocky trials, cabins right next to the road, that are easily accessible, and even cabins that have javelinas waiting for you on the dark morning hike! It’s okay, just have a close friend walk in front of you, she’ll sacrifice herself! Great dining hall with plenty of room to set up tables for eating and fellowship and eating and laughing and eating!
- Great Hikes: Nothing brings you closer than someone pushing your rear up a rock or laughing because you smacked someone behind you with a tree branch. The best part of our hike, the unscheduled one we took after the rain poured down. The waterfall that suddenly appeared only hours after our first hike. Took my breathe away!
- Horseback and Hayride Scavenger Hunts: We were all out looking, collecting, laughing, and making some new friends. What I loved…..we looked up each clue, with a Bible verse, finding each hidden item along the way. What a great idea.
- Great Music , Poetry, and Devotions: Some made me laugh, especially the one about the feed truck, some made me cry, and some just focused my attention on God! I loved the variety of what we heard and learned! I loved the genuine witness of the ladies, whether they were telling a personal story or giving a little advise.
- Great Food: Gotta have it and it’s gotta be good! Our ladies that cooked had cooked for us two other years. They never left us hungry! I went back for seconds on the chicken enchiladas! I dreamt about those chicken enchiladas, I want to marry those chicken enchiladas!
- Teamwork: Like I said earlier, the team is what really makes a difference. Every single member of that team. It can’t be done without everyone doing a part. The book keepers, registration, t-shirt designer, speakers, music, someone to organize horses, hayrides, games, food, someone to clean, buy or make gifts, the months and months of prep work this team did! A job well done by ALL!
- Trucks, Trailers, and Horses Being Pulled Out of the MUD: Remember the rain I mentioned earlier….nothing a chain couldn’t solve. A couple of ladies ponied horses across the creek, while others helped hook up chains, drive trucks, and cheer on spin outs! Why didn’t we think of selling tickets? Wished I would have gotten pictures!
- Games: Ones that made us look silly, others that were kind of spiritual, some were pretty creative. Group games help everyone get to know each other a little better.
- Friends Old and New: Some of them are “old”, like me, ha..ha! No but really, the fellowship of other women. Ranch women need to get caught up on talking to other females!
-
And as ALWAYS, Becoming Closer to Christ: There was a moment during our horseback devotion that was so inspiring to me. A simple message about how we seek God, put in her own words. The scripture read horseback! Wow! Great job!
